Dermal fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA) which is nature’s ‘plumping molecule’ and is found naturally in your body.
As we age, skin loses its natural HA, leading to a loss of volume, the formation of wrinkles, sagging and reduced hydration and support.
Dermal fillers replace the lost HA, revitalising and adding volume to the skin to, instantly reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles for a natural, ‘lifted’ appearance.
Where can it be used?
Dermal fillers are most commonly used to enhance and restore the lips and cheeks (mid-face) areas.
They can be used to smooth away facial lines and wrinkles, create fuller lips and shape facial contours, such as the cheeks and chin, and revitalise the skin.
When used correctly, fillers can achieve a very natural looking result which does not affect facial expression.
How long do they last?
The result of a single treatment can be seen instantly and can last for around 6 to 9 months, depending on the area injected. Some dermal fillers can last even longer – for around 12 months – before the HA is naturally broken down by the body.

More about lip fillers
Over time, our lips gradually lose volume, become smaller and can develop fine lines around their borders. The cupid’s bow can become flattened and the corners of the mouth may turn downward, creating a tired, aged appearance.
Dermal fillers can enhance thin lips, create a more defined lip border and add fullness and balance. If you suffer from vertical ‘barcode’ or ‘smokers’ lines’ around the mouth, fillers can soften these and smooth out the lip appearance.
Deep ‘marionette’ lines from the lip corners to the chin can give the appearance of an unhappy expression – but again, these can also be effectively addressed with fillers.
More about cheek or mid-face fillers
As part of the natural ageing process, we lose mid-face volume due to loss of fat and the weakening and absorption of the underlying bone structure. Loss of this cheek and mid-face volume causes the accompanying tissues to sag leading to the development of the nasolabial fold and jowls.
Dermal fillers can be injected to restore structure and support to the cheeks and mid-face, creating a natural lifting effect. This helps to soften lines, restore lost volume and contour the face.
Correction of this lost volume is important to the overall rejuvenation process and helps to restore symmetry and balance to the face. It can also improve some of the folds and wrinkles in the lower face and jaw by lifting and supporting tissue.
