Lip Fillers

In recent years, dermal fillers for the lips have become increasingly popular as an effective and safe way to enhance and reshape the lip area, as well as adding volume and hydration. As we age, our lips can become thinner and lose their youthful fullness; this can have a dramatic effect on our overall facial appearance.

At River Aesthetics, we offer injectable dermal fillers to enhance the lips and restore lost volume and vitality, so that you can feel more confident and beautiful every day.

There are many dermal lip fillers on the market but the most popular are those which are non-permanent and made from a substance called Hyaluronic Acid (HA). This is a naturally occurring sugar which can be found in the skin, joints, eyes and connective tissues. Over time this depletes in our systems and the restoration of this substance can bring significant improvement to areas such as the lips, as HA holds up to 1000 times its own weight in water – a great hydrator for the skin.

Lips enhanced with fillers

It is important to consider that lip filler injections should only be administered by fully-qualified and trained medical professionals. All doctors at River Aesthetics are all experts in administering injectable lip fillers safely and with stunning, but most importantly natural-looking results.

Frequently asked questions about lip fillers

How do I know if I am suitable for lip fillers?

Most people can undergo lip fillers. However, at River Aesthetics, we ask that you attend a pre-treatment consultation so that we can assess your individual case, your medical history and discuss your goals and expected results. It’s at this point that we can also assess which technique and which product would be best for you.

What happens during the lip filler treatment?

The lip filler treatment is very straightforward and requires either topical or an injection of anaesthetic to the area prior to treatment. The doctors may decide to fill the outer line of the lip (vermillion boarder) or concentrate more on adding volume to the body of the lips: or a combination of both. Whichever method is choosen, you can rest assured this will be the right one for you. No two sets of lips are the same and you can never compare your own treatment to anyone else. Your treatment will be as unique as you are.

Does it hurt?

As most lip fillers now contain Lidocaine, an anaesthetic, the treatment should not hurt. You may feel a slight stinging as the needle or cannula is inserted and a little discomfort as the dermal filler gel is injected, but this should be quite tolerable.

When will I see results?

You’ll be able to admire immediate results with dermal fillers for the lips. However, it’s important to consider that you may be a little swollen post treatment for a few days. The full results will be seen around a month after treatment. Any bruising that may occur can be treated with arnica gel, ice and avoiding hot saunas, steam rooms and hot baths for at least 2 weeks after the treatment.

How long do results last?

This all depends on your individual responses. Some people find that lip fillers can last anything up to a year. However, if you smoke, exercise excessively and do not take good care of your skin in the sun, you may find that you need to return for treatment sooner than this.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers have been in the medical and aesthetic world for many years and at River Aesthetics, we only use tried, tested and regulated products, to ensure purity and safety. Your pre-treatment consultation will give you the opportunity to discuss your medical history with the doctor so that they can make an informed decision as to whether dermal fillers for the lips are the most appropriate and safe option for you.
