The River Aesthetic Ultimate Scar Treatment TRUST for Scarring

Dr Victoria Manning and Dr Charlotte Woodward have been working on a new revolutionary technique quite by chance using proven methods in scar reduction called The Ultimate scar Treatment (TRUST)*****
one of our patients was attacked by a dog on her face, leaving a full thickness facial wound. The wound was stitched and she phoned the clinic for advice 6 weeks later for help on treating her disfiguring scar. She has agreed to showcase her story as she has had fantastic results,

The River Aesthetics Ultimate Scar Treatment **** procedure is a safe, non-invasive procedure that has minimal downtime. It stimulates new skin regeneration and repair to existing scars and the surrounding skin. This results in a smoother, more even toned appearance and a healthier complexion. Scars appear less deep and less noticeable. Dramatic results can be seen over a period of months, often in scars that have been resistant to other treatment methods.

The TRUST Procedure has 4 steps:

  1. Subcision
Under topical anaesthetic, needles are used to gently break down the tethering of the scars & loosen them from the tissues.
  2. Injection of Hyaluronic Acid Mesotherapy (Restylane® Vital®)
Hyaluronic Acid is naturally found in the skin. It provides hydration; supports and plumps the scars. In River Aesthetics we use Restylane Vital
  3. Genuine Dermastamp Medical Microneedling
A medical microneedling device is used to specifically target certain scars. This stimulates regeneration of the skin with new cell production and blood supply to the scars.
  4. Genuine Dermaroller eDS Microneedling
A medical, electronic micro needling device is used to treat the whole area (e.g. face, neck chest, back). It creates many tiny injuries to the skin, stimulating the skin to repair itself and regenerate new collagen. As the whole area is treated, the skin overall appears smoother, stronger and healthier.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required depends upon several factors:

  • Type and severity of the scars
  • Affected area
  • Age
  • General health

The response to the healing process is monitored over months and the treatments tailored to each individuals needs. Most patients with moderate to severe scarring will need a course of at least 3 treatments.

Psychological impairment can be related to the above medical conditions. Correction and treatment of these conditions can have significant health and psychological benefits for the patient.

How often are the treatments?

Treatments are 4-6 weeks apart for the full *ultimate Procedure. However, most patients benefit from sessions of the Hyaluronic Acid Mesotherapy in between sessions.

What is the downtime?

Most patients can return to work or normal, non-strenuous activity almost immediately. Redness is common for 24hours. Bruising and swelling can occur but is uncommon and rarely lasts longer than 48hours.

Is it safe?

A detailed medical consultation will be carried out by either Dr Manning or Dr Woodward, which will include a full scarring assessment and scarring history. This will rule out any patients who are not suitable for treatment. In suitable patients the treatment is very safe as it consists of fully approved medical devices and techniques.

Risks include:

Redness, bruising, swelling and infection (rare). Some patients may require more than 4 sessions. Sun protection and avoidance is essential as with any skin treatment to prevent further sun damage or pigmentation.

Does it hurt and how long does the procedure take?

An anaesthetic cream is applied for at least an hour prior to the procedure. This numbs the area and minimises any discomfort. Following consultation, The procedure takes 30 – 45 minutes.
