Thread Lift

DISCOVER THE POWER OF THREAD LIFTS

A thread lift is a non-surgical, minimally invasive aesthetic treatment that rejuvenates your skin, reduces wrinkles, and restores volume. By carefully inserting specialised threads into the soft tissues, we can lift and contour to help rejuvenate skin for a more youthful appearance.

Silhouette Soft is an innovative technology from the USA with the unique double effect of lifting and regenerating facial skin to give gradual and natural results. It uses re-absorbable sutures (as with dissolvable stitches in surgery) with tiny, re-absorbable bidirectional cones that hold the suture in place. The suture thread is made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) and is gently drawn through the skin with a very fine needle. It is absorbed by the body over 18-24 months.

Preparing for your Thread Lift treatment

To ensure a smooth procedure and optimal results, careful preparation is essential. Here are some key guidelines to follow before your Silhouette Soft lift:

Consultation and Medical History

A thorough consultation with your practitioner is crucial. Discuss your medical history in detail, including medications, supplements, and previous treatments. Clearly communicate your desired outcome to align it with the procedure’s capabilities.

Medication and Supplement Adjustments

To minimise risks, temporarily discontinue blood-thinning medications and supplements like aspirin, ibuprofen, vitamin E, fish oil, and certain herbal remedies. Always consult your doctor before making medication changes. Inform your practitioner about all prescription medications you take.

Lifestyle Considerations

For optimal healing, avoid smoking and excessive alcohol consumption for at least three days before the procedure. Maintain a balanced diet to support overall health and immune function.

Pre-Procedure Skincare

Prepare your skin for the treatment by following a gentle skincare routine. Avoid harsh treatments like chemical peels or exfoliation that could irritate the skin. Keep your skin hydrated through water intake and moisturiser use.

Practical Arrangements

Plan transportation to and from the clinic as you may not be suitable to drive immediately post-procedure. Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing on the treatment day.

Procedure Day

Arrive at the clinic slightly early to complete paperwork. Cleanse your face thoroughly and avoid makeup or skincare products.

Mental Preparation

Relaxation techniques like deep breathing or meditation can help manage pre-procedure anxiety. Feel free to ask your practitioner any questions before the procedure begins.

By following these steps, you can contribute to a successful Silhouette Soft lift and a smoother recovery process.

FAQ

Where can Thread Lifts be used?

Thread lifts can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections. Thread lifts can be used to treat and contour various parts of the face, including the: lower jaw, cheek, cheekbones, eyebrows, and neck.

Are the threads visible after the treatment?

No, following insertion the fine threads are completely under the subcutaneous layer of fat in your face and not visible.

What age would you recommend having a thread lift?

At River Aesthetics we believe you can have a thread lift at any age to treat mild to moderate laxity that is causing gravitational descent of the tissues.

Patients in their 30s or 40s who are starting to notice a loss of definition along the jawline, or the development of folds around the nose and mouth, are excellent candidates for the procedure. We can achieve a natural lifting of the tissues, avoiding the excessive volume or ‘pillow face’ look associated with overfilling with dermal fillers.

Patients in their 50s and 60s are also great candidates for face and neck-lifting with threads, as long as they are in good health and don’t have excessive laxity of the skin associated with heavy smoking and sun damage.

How long do the results last?

The effects last up to 18 months. We will see you for a review at 2 weeks post treatment and 3-month post treatment. For more advanced anti-ageing results, River Aesthetics created the ground-breaking RiverLIFT which combines Silhouette Soft® thread lifting and collagen stimulating dermal fillers.

Thread Lifts vs. Fillers. How to choose the right procedure for you.

How does the treatment work?

Threads are made of a clear, absorbable material of polylactic acid, which dissolve and help stimulate your skin’s own collagen production. The threads are inserted under the skin using a fine needle, without the need for incisions, to elevate the sagging tissue and lift problem areas. Only a small local anaesthetic is needed at the entry and exit points of the threads. Once the thread has been inserted, we apply slight compression by hand to the tissue to reshape it and obtain the desired lifting effect.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes around 1.5 hours, with 30 minutes for the pre-consultation.

How long until I see the full results?

Following the initial lift of the skin and tissues, there will be a gradual improvement of the result over the first 12 weeks, as new collagen is formed, resulting in tighter, firmer and smoother skin.

Is recovery time needed?

Downtime after a thread lift treatment is minimal. However, as with all cosmetic procedures, you may experience some very slight bruising or swelling in the days following the procedure and some mild tension in the areas that have been elevated. During the first two weeks after treatment, you should not undergo dental surgery and you must avoid facial and beauty treatments. We recommend that you avoid any impact exercise for two weeks after the treatment and advise you to sleep on your back and slightly elevated during that time.
