Thread Lift

A thread lift is a non-surgical and minimally invasive aesthetic treatment. It can be done by itself or combined with other treatments to optimize the results to help rejuvenate skin, treat signs of ageing, restore volume, and reduce wrinkles. The thread lift procedure involves inserting specialised surgical threads into the soft tissues which are then pulled tight to lift and contour the skin.

To get in touch, arrange a consultation or if you have any questions about our thread lift treatments, please do not hesitate to contact the clinic! The thread lift treatments are available in both our Bournemouth and Harley Street, London clinics.

You can book a thread lift consultation online or give us a call on 01202 024060.

As the best clinic in the UK for thread lifts, we empower our patients to age well by achieving beautiful, natural-looking results.

Our non-surgical Thread Lifts enable a more youthful and refreshed appearance for both men & women, with no need for surgery and a quick recovery time!

In addition to the initial thread lift results from the treatment, the threads trigger the body’s natural healing response by stimulating collagen regeneration and encouraging continued volume & tightness long after the thread dissolves. As a result, the face is redefined, and the effects of ageing are significantly reduced.

“I can’t recommend River Aesthetics highly enough! I was very concerned about my sagging jawline so went to see Dr Manning regarding a thread lift. Absolutely thrilled with my results!

So many people have said how well I look without knowing I’ve had a little ‘tweakment’!

Dr Manning and Dr Woodward are the best in the industry which really put my mind at ease knowing I was in such safe hands”.

PDO threads, made from Polydioxanone (PDO), are best for targeting soft tissue areas as the threads create a tighter lift, making them ideal for procedures like nose reshaping.

Where can Thread Lifts be used?

Thread lifts can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections. Thread lifts can be used to treat and contour various parts of the face, including the: lower jaw, cheek, cheekbones, eyebrows, and neck.

Are the threads visible after the treatment?

No, following insertion the fine threads are completely under the subcutaneous layer of fat in your face and not visible.

What age would you recommend having a thread lift?

At River Aesthetics we believe you can have a thread lift at any age to treat mild to moderate laxity that is causing gravitational descent of the tissues.

  • Patients in their 30s or 40s who are starting to notice a loss of definition along the jawline, or the development of folds around the nose and mouth, are excellent candidates for the procedure. We can achieve a natural lifting of the tissues, avoiding the excessive volume or ‘pillow face’ look associated with overfilling with dermal fillers.
  • Patients in their 50s and 60s are also great candidates for face and neck-lifting with threads, as long as they are in good health and don’t have excessive laxity of the skin associated with heavy smoking and sun damage.

How long do the results last?

The effects last up to 18 months. We will see you for a review at 2 weeks post treatment and 3-month post treatment. For more advanced anti-ageing results, River Aesthetics created the ground-breaking RiverLIFT which combines Silhouette Soft® thread lifting and collagen stimulating dermal fillers.

How does the treatment work?

Threads are made of a clear, absorbable material of polylactic acid, which dissolve and help stimulate your skin’s own collagen production. The threads are inserted under the skin using a fine needle, without the need for incisions, to elevate the sagging tissue and lift problem areas. Only a small local anaesthetic is needed at the entry and exit points of the threads. Once the thread has been inserted, we apply slight compression by hand to the tissue to reshape it and obtain the desired lifting effect.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes around 1.5 hours, with 30 minutes for the pre-consultation.

How long until I see the full results?

Following the initial lift of the skin and tissues, there will be a gradual improvement of the result over the first 12 weeks, as new collagen is formed, resulting in tighter, firmer and smoother skin.

Is recovery time needed?

Downtime after a thread lift treatment is minimal. However, as with all cosmetic procedures, you may experience some very slight bruising or swelling in the days following the procedure and some mild tension in the areas that have been elevated. During the first two weeks after treatment, you should not undergo dental surgery and you must avoid facial and beauty treatments. We recommend that you avoid any impact exercise for two weeks after the treatment and advise you to sleep on your back and slightly elevated during that time.
