Is it safe?
Silhouette Soft is approved by MHRA in the UK and the FDA in the USA, for the restoration and/or correction of facial skin laxity. Polylactic acid – the main ingredient of Silhouette Soft threads – has been used successfully in surgical procedures for more than 40 years, for bioresorbable sutures, in bone plates and screws, and as a medium for medication.
How does it work?
Silhouette Soft threads are made of a clear, absorbable material of polylactic acid, which dissolve and help stimulate your skin’s own collagen production. These threads are inserted under the skin using a fine needle – without the need for incisions – to elevate the sagging tissue and lift problem areas. Only a small local anesthesia is needed at the entry and exit points of the sutures. Once the suture has been applied, we apply slight compression to the tissue to reshape it by hand and to obtain the desired lifting effect. The non-inserted ends of the thread are cut off, and you’re done. The effect lasts up to 18 months
Is there a long recovery period?
Downtime after a thread lift treatment is minimal. However, as with all cosmetic procedures, you may experience some very slight bruising or swelling in the days following the procedure and some mild tension in the areas that have been elevated. During the week after treatment, you should not undergo dental surgery and you must avoid facial and beauty treatments. We recommend that you avoid any excessive exercise for two weeks after the treatment, and advise you to sleep on your back and slightly elevated (using 2 pillows) during that time. You should also be gentle when cleansing your face.
