The threads are made from polydioxanone (PDO), which is a suture-like material that is used for medical stitches that dissolve naturally in the body over time. What is the difference between the different threads?
Silhouette Soft uses polylactic threads, while PDO consists of polydioxanone. While both are natural and biocompatible materials, one can be more suitable than the other for treating certain issues. For example, Silhouette Soft provides more compression to the tissue than PDO, producing a more volumised effect. PDO, on the other hand, is best for targeting soft tissue areas as the threads create a tighter lift, making them ideal for nose reshaping.
Aptos threads are made of a revolutionary new formula involving hyaluronic acid, elastin and collagen which dissolve and help stimulate your skin’s own collagen & elastin production. The threads have a unique direction of barbs which anchors to the soft tissues allowing for a strong and stable lift. Aptos thread lifts can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in combination with dermal fillers and muscle relaxing injections to treat various parts of the face and neck including the lower jaw, cheek, cheekbones, eyebrows, & nose.
Can you see the threads post-treatment?
No, once the threads have been inserted you will be unable to see them beneath the skin. Over time, the threads will naturally dissolve.
How long do results last?
After undergoing Silhouette Soft treatment, you can enjoy the results for up to 18 months. Two weeks after the treatment, we will welcome you back for a follow-up appointment. We will schedule in a further review 3 months later.
For PDO thread lifts, results will last up to 2 years. We will also arrange a post-treatment plan.
Aptos threads effects last up to 18-24 months. We will see you for a review at 2 weeks post treatment and 3-month post treatment.
How long does the treatment take?
The pre-consultation will last 30 minutes, with the treatment time differing slightly depending on the chosen procedure. Generally, it takes 1.5 hours to complete a Silhouette Soft or Aptos treatment, and an hour for PDO threads.
Is the treatment painful?
Patients will feel comfortable throughout the procedure. We use a fine needle to insert the threads, removing the need for incisions. We will apply a small local anaesthetic to the entry and exit points of the threads.
When will I see the results?
You will notice an immediate difference post-treatment, with results gradually improving over the first 3 months as new collagen is formed.
Is there any recovery time?
There is minimal downtime. All we ask is that you avoid dental surgery and other facial treatments for the first two weeks. We also advise against impact exercise during that time.
